CONESVILLE


Franklin Township was formed September 6, 1814. in 1847 a group of houses which had spring up around Cones' distillery was named Conesville. For many years Conesville was one of the principal trading centers for the large coal industry which developed in the nearby area. Important presetday industries in this area are The columbus and Southern Power Company and the Universal cyclops Steel Company, 1960 populations was 451.
In 1847 homes were built around Cone's distillery. This became Conesville. Conesville is in Franklin Township. For many years Conesville was one of the principal trading centers for the coal industry nearby.
