Rosena Meitzler Shumaker Family

This is the family of Rosena Meitzler Shumaker.
Charles and Rosena left Crawford Township for Alabama circa 1807.
Charles had pulmonary problems and was advised to seek a warmer climate.
They took out a homestead in Baldwin County, Alabama and built a log cabin on it to enable them to claim it.
They took their three daughters Vesta, Bernice and Beatrice and went to live on the Homestead.
(the homestead papers are in the possession of Rosena and Charles' granddaughter Rosalie (front row).
Three more children, Margaretha, Karl and Victor were born in Alabama. When Charles died in December of 1914,
Victor was four months old. Rosena sold the homestead and came back to Coshocton County where her family and Charles' family lived.
Pictured in the back yard of the home Rosena had built circa 1915 at 1419 East Elm Street are (left to right):
Bernice Eva Shumaker, Victory Lewis Shumaker, Rosena Meitzler Shumaker, Guy Leas, Beatrice Shumaker Leas,
Vesta and Margaretha Shumaker. In the front is Rosalie Leas, daughter of Guy and Beatrice.
