Edmont Manufacturing Company


A "Selling Spree for our Silver Anniversary" was the theme for the annual sales conference this Edmont Manufacturing Company on Walnut Street. Fifiteen sales representatives who cover the entire country were at the home office for this meeting because Edmont will celebrate 25 years in business in 1959. Pictured above are sales people and home office personnel taking part in the event.
Robert Thomas, sales manager, presided at the sessions which were started on Wednesday and were completed Friday afternoon. During the conference, the company's 25th anniversary line was introduced. New items announced this year include a glove for women to use for gardening and household jobs.
For use in industry a red plastic glove has been designed for handling rocket fuel in missle work. Other new industrial gloves presented by I.V Fisher, regional sales manager, including light and heavy weight vinyl impregnated fabric gloves and a neoprene glove with special roughened finish.
The advertising program for the next year was presented by K.L. Kendig. Edmont advertising will appear in publications which are circulated in the United States as well as in many foreign counties.
One of the highlights of the conference was the program which was presented at a dinner held at the Country Club for the sales representatives and personnel from the local office. The program was entitled, This is Your Life- Edmont Manufacturing Company. It traced the growth of the company from 1934, when it was founded by E.E. Montgomery.
Interesting events were described by John Montgomery; vice-president, Everett Dawson; first employe, and Emmett Friedli; secretary treasurer, Weldon Barr, Mt. Vernon, one of Edmont's first salesmen, was present and told of many interesting experiences during the early years. An interview on tape with one of the first stockholders, Wilbur Grandle, was included. Leo Prindle, executive vice-president, narrated the history ofthe many memorable events in Edmont's 25 years of operation.
