Clow Company

Pattern Shop at Clow Company circa 1935-40's
In 1909, construction began on the new Clow plant in Coshocton, Ohio. Then in 1922, the Clow pipe plant in Coshocton manufactured the first centrifugal cast pipe sold in the United States. In 1967, the Clow company changed its name from James B. Clow & Sons to Clow Corporation. In 1985, McWane, Inc. purchased Clow Corporation and retained two plants - the pipe plant in Coshocton, Ohio (Clow Water Systems Company) and the valve plant in Oskaloosa, Iowa (Clow Valve Company).

James B. Clow and Sons, founded in 1910, dicontinued production of pipe and pipe fittings during the war because of the lack of available metal.
A defense contract was awarded and production turned from pipes to castings of large machine tool parts. The plant also turned out tank bnrackets and seven million tubes and bases for 23 pound fragment bombs. ~ The Tribune March 28, 1993
