Came to America in 1816 with his wife Mary and two sons Miller and Benjamin. They came to Washington County, PA where Thomas was born and then to Steubenville Ohio where Mary Jane was born. From there they came to Keene Township, Coshocton County, Ohio where the other children were born. Benjamin purchased 11 tracts of land (in Morgan and Coshocton Counties) from the government for a total of 643 acres. Per the 1850 census his farm was valued at $3000.

Born in Ireland in 1832 , he came to America in 1842 and to Coshocton Co. in 1852 where he settled in White Eyes Township. He commenced the mechanical trade as a machinist in his eleventh year, entering a large machine shop im Glasgow, Scotland but afterward turned his attention to engineering. He came to Montreal, Canada and took charge of the steamer Rollin Hill on the St. Lawrence river. In the spring of 1847, he came to Oswego, New York and had charge of the steamer Victoria, running on the Bay of Fundy in the summer of 1847. In the fall of 1847, he went into a machine shop at Niagara Falls. In the spring of 1848, his parents moved upon a farm in Canada where he remained with them until 1850, when he came to Erie, Pennsylvania, and took charge of a steamer on Lake Erie, where he remained until 1852 when he came to this County (Coshocton). James was living with his family in White Eyes Township, Coshocton County, Ohio in the 1850 Census. In 1856, James moved his family to Iowa and is believed to have lived near his sister Sarah (Graham) Wilkinson. In the Wilkinson family cemetery near Chelsea, Iowa County, Iowa there is a monument bearing the inscription "Infant daughter of J.K. and M. Graham April 5, 1857, aged 5 months. The 1860 Census showed that James K. Graham with his wife and family of 8 children lived in Scott Township, Johnson County, Iowa. Sometime therafter, he moved his family back to a farm near Buckeye Prairie in Church not far from Pana in Christian County, IL where he died in 1866.

There she was buried in the family cemetery on the Anthony Wilkinson farm.
